Overview

What is a bespoke fitted wardrobe?

A bespoke fitted wardrobe is designed from a blank page for one room. There are no standard unit sizes, so the layout, doors, interior and finishes are all chosen for you.

We start by asking what you own and how you use the room. That tells us where long hanging, drawers and shelves should go, and whether a dressing table or desk would help. Bedrooms in Newcastle vary a lot, from tall Victorian rooms in Jesmond to compact flats, so a fixed range rarely fits well.

All our wardrobes are made to measure, but bespoke goes further than size alone. If you mainly want the most storage from an awkward wall, our made to measure wardrobes may suit you better.

Personal details

What can you include in a bespoke wardrobe?

Most of the design work goes into four areas. These are the ones that make the biggest difference day to day.

An interior planned around you

We set hanging heights, shelf gaps and drawer depths to suit what you own. Long coats, suits and folded jumpers each get the right space.

Built-in lighting

LED strips or sensor lights help you see colours and find things quickly. They also give a soft light in the evening.

Handleless doors

Push-to-open doors or slim finger pulls keep a long run of doors calm and simple.

Glass display sections

Framed glass doors keep bags, shoes or special pieces on view while keeping the dust off.

Materials & finishes

Finishes and colours

You can mix finishes freely on a bespoke design. We bring samples to your visit so you can see them in your own light.

CashmereSoft warm neutral
SageMuted green for calm rooms
Midnight blueRich, tailored colour
Walnut effectDark, luxurious grain
Natural oak effectWarm, light woodgrain
Smoked glassMoody, boutique feel

Soft colours such as sage or cashmere help a long run of doors sit quietly in a period room. Midnight blue or dark walnut gives a richer, more tailored look. You can also finish the inside in a contrasting colour.

We match end panels, plinths and fillers to the doors so the wardrobe looks built in. Handles are chosen to suit the other metalwork in the room.

Why it works

Is a bespoke wardrobe worth it?

For many rooms, yes. A design made for one space solves problems that a standard range cannot.

  1. Less wasted space

Every rail, shelf and drawer has a job, so less ends up piled on a chair.

  2. Suits the house

Door styles and proportions are chosen to match a Newcastle terrace, a 1930s semi or a new build.

  3. Awkward features used well

Chimney breasts, bulkheads and sloping ceilings become part of the design.

  4. More than clothes

A desk, dressing table or TV recess can sit in the same run of furniture.

Installation

How we design and fit bespoke wardrobes in Newcastle

It starts with a free design visit at your home in Newcastle or nearby. You then get a drawing and an itemised quote, and nothing is made until you are happy. As a guide, making takes a few weeks from sign-off, and fitting a single wall usually takes one to two days. Your quote sets out the timings. You can see finished rooms in our gallery.

  1. Listen and measure

We talk through your routine, then measure the room and note walls, floors and sockets.

  2. Design

You get a drawing and quote, and we adjust the layout until it feels right.

  3. Make

Every part is made to the sizes and finishes you signed off.

  4. Fit and finish

We fit everything, connect any lighting and leave the room clean.

FAQs

Bespoke fitted wardrobe FAQs

More answers in our fitted wardrobe FAQs.

What is the difference between bespoke and made to measure?

All our wardrobes are made to measure, so they fit your space exactly. Bespoke means the whole design is created around you as well, including the layout, doors, lighting and finishes.

Do I need to know what I want before the visit?

No. A few photos you like are helpful, but most people settle on a design by talking it through. We bring samples and explain the pros and cons of each option.

Can a bespoke wardrobe include a desk or dressing table?

Yes. We can build a desk, dressing table or TV recess into the same run. We plan the heights, lighting and sockets as part of the design.

Will a bespoke wardrobe suit my period property?

It can be designed to. Many Newcastle homes have cornicing, picture rails and chimney breasts, and we plan around them. Panelled or painted doors often suit these rooms well.

How much does a bespoke fitted wardrobe cost?

The price depends on the size, doors, interior and extras such as lighting. Every quote is itemised, so you can see where the money goes and change the design if needed. Our fitted wardrobe costs guide explains the main factors.

Do you work outside Newcastle?

Yes. We are based in Newcastle and also cover Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, North Tyneside and the coast. Send us your postcode and we’ll arrange a visit.
