Sliding wardrobes · Newcastle
Floor-to-ceiling sliding wardrobes, designed and fitted for homes across Newcastle. The doors glide sideways, so you keep the floor space in front of them.
Overview
A sliding wardrobe has doors that run along a track at the top and bottom of the frame. They open sideways instead of swinging out, so you don’t need to leave clear space in front of them.
Ours are made to measure. That means the frame fits your wall from end to end and from floor to ceiling, with no gaps at the sides or a dusty space on top. We scribe the edges to follow your walls, which matters in older Newcastle homes where walls and floors are rarely straight.
Sliding doors suit most bedrooms, but they are especially useful in compact rooms in terraces, flats and new-build homes across Newcastle. If you prefer doors that open fully, see our hinged door wardrobes.
Sliding vs hinged
Both work well. The right choice depends on your floor space and how you like to use the wardrobe.
| Question | Sliding doors | Hinged doors |
|---|---|---|
| Space needed in front | None, as the doors stay in the frame | Room for the doors to swing open |
| Access to the inside | One section at a time | Everything on view at once |
| Mirrors | Large, full-height panels | Mirrors on individual doors |
| Look | Clean and modern | Classic or modern |
Many people choose sliding doors for a long bedroom wall and hinged doors for alcoves, where narrow doors look better. We can show you both at your free design visit.
Design options
These are the three styles we are asked about most.

Simple panels in white, cream or grey. They give a calm look that suits almost any room.

A mirror panel between wood-effect doors adds light without filling the wall with glass.

Slim dark frames with clear, smoked or frosted glass. They look best with lighting inside.

Materials & finishes
Each door is a frame with a panel, so you can mix finishes. You can compare real samples in your room before choosing.

Frames come in a range of metal colours, including silver, champagne and black. Mirror and glass panels have a safety backing, which is important in family homes.
Heavier doors need a stronger track. We choose the track to suit your panels and can add soft-close, so the doors slow down before they meet the frame.
Why it works
Yes. They are often the best option when space is tight.
There is no door swing, so furniture can sit closer to the wardrobe.
Mirror panels reflect daylight and make the room feel bigger.
One run of doors looks tidier than several separate units.
Sliding doors work well across wide walls where many hinged doors would feel busy.

Installation
Sliding doors need a level track to run smoothly. Many Newcastle houses have uneven floors and ceilings, so we measure at several points and plan the frame around what we find. Our installation process page explains what happens on fitting day.
We check the width and height in several places and note skirting, coving and sockets.
Drawers sit behind a single door, so they always open fully.
The frame and track are levelled, and the edges are scribed tight to your walls.
We hang the doors and adjust them until they glide and close evenly.
